A night at the Hotel Coral Essex with Wormser and the best of 1978, 1983 & 1995!

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

If you're like us, you adored Revenge of the Nerds growing up. Love it or hate it, there is no denying it was iconic 80s comedy! That being said, since we were all youngins when it came out in 1984, the only character that we could really relate to was Wormser! So as we were discussing Revenge of the Nerds a few weeks ago, Joe Findlay said "see if Andrew Cassese wants to be a judge". Great idea, Joe! We sent Andrew a message, and he was totally down to be a guest judge! Without hesitation, we booked a room at the HOTel cORAL eSEXx, and passed over the gavel to Andrew! After a month off, it's been a while since we did a "best of" month, and we forgot just how closely contested these months can be. Since Joe suggested Andrew to be on the show, he came equipped with the best of October, 1983! Our good pal Beau Becraft is back in the fold, and we put him right in his wheelhouse with an October 1995 that only Beau could deliver. Rounding out the panel, Mancrush comes with a spooky October, 1978!

Andrew brings out his inner Wormser, and utilized his superior intellect to navigate this extremely close battle of decades! In this episode you might find out: Wormsers fondest memories from being a tri-lamb, a restaurant that broaches on judge pandering, a major band plays a show for three people, Andrew interrupts a bronco chase, Joe surprises no one by bringing more death, the birth of the stink palm, real Bond goes bootleg Bond, an independent movie kills the competition, the Jets get embarrassed by an expansion team, evil robot clones takeover Magic Mountain, Tony Manero was not the best costume of 1978, a Yokozuna doubleheader no one asked for, a computer program kills the typewriter, douche brothers create a masterpiece, Mancrush duets with Wormser, Captain Lou makes a cameo, Andrew is NOT Bret Spiner, the difference between Adams College and Fort Lauderdale, Wormer cleans up at the Greek games, Wormser's stand-in shows up intoxicated, and what was it like to be a kid on the set of Revenge of the Nerds?

Mike Ranger returns to make a ruling on who had the best week between October 1975, 1982, & 1993!

Another week, and another retro battle! Mike Ranger hasn't judged an episode in well over a year. Matter of fact, for a stretch in early 2019, Mike Ranger was our dedicated judge. Judge Ranger knows the ropes, and brings his own unique judging style to the table! This is a week experience, so you never can predict what picks could be brought to the table, and this episode is no different. Drew is back in the fold and he had to dig real deep to deliver the best he could find for his week in October 1975. Marc James threw on his leather Member's Only jacket and was ready to rock with the best of the last week of October 1982! Finally, Mancrush completes this week experience challenge with the finest final week of October 1993 he could conjure.

You're in for a treat, Mike Ranger uses his very methodical judging prowess to determine the winner of this stiff matchup! In this episode, you might hear something about a boy who thought he could fly, the weirdest hot product you couldn't even imagine, Mancrush bores Judge Ranger, another unexpected duet, Erik Estrada takes down not Gene Simmons, Marc phones home for a hot product, Sean Maguire went to see about a girl, women's rights, the birth of the candy x-ray, extreme body modifications, Drew goes to bat for spider's rights, never judge a movie by its cover, David Carradine edges out Bruce Willis, a cocaine-fueled album rocks the westies, and Mike Ranger must be delirious to not be a fan of this artist!

Do you agree with Mike's rulings? Play at home and judge for yourself! While you're at it, send your rulings to our Facebook and pick up 20 points on the Dueling Decades Leaderboard!

Ajay Popoff of Lit judges this worst of battle between 76, 87 & 99 guaranteed to make you completely miserable

We're baaaaaaaaaaaaack! Vacation is over and it's time to get back to the gameplay! This week, we wanted to make you "completely miserable"! That being said, we brought the worst of September to the table! To make things not so miserable, we also brought along the lead vocalist of the band Lit! Ajay Popoff was kind enough to sit down and judge this battle of duds from September 1976, 1987, and 1999. After a long day of songwriting, Ajay was primed to sit behind the bench and swing that mighty gavel. Mike Ranger is back, and he's his own worst enemy with his putrid offerings from September 1976! The rubbish doesn't end there, Drew Zakmin went rummaging through September 1999's trash heap, and found some real turds! Rounding out this trifecta of inferiority, Mancrush steps to the plate with the worst of September of 1987!

Thanks for sticking around! It felt like an eternity since our last retro battle, but we're back. Ajay was a great dude, and you could tell the guys were making things tough with a smorgasbord of atrocity. In this worst of extravaganza, you'll most likely hear things about: a television show that Mr. T couldn't even save, playing instruments on Pamela Anderson, Mike Ranger hates telethons, Skeet Ulrich in 1999's version of Speed, Drew brings more death and destruction, James Woods at his sleaziest, a progressive Redd Foxx tries to save the day, soul patches are the devil's work, a band's lapse of reason, scabs to the rescue, a Beatle gets sued, riding lumber at Woodstock 99, a giant return to television falls flat, a show that nobody heard of, Vestron video gets the shaft and then gives it back, Drew hates a beloved holiday classic, Mike brings an amazing hot product that confuses everyone, what life is like for a musician during the pandemic, and what famous band stole one of Lit's ideas while sharing a tour bus?!

Do you agree with Ajay's rulings? Play at home and judge for yourself! While you're at it, send your rulings to our Facebook and pick up 20 points on the Dueling Decades Leaderboard!

Be prepared to lose your mind, it's movies Jay has never seen.

Next week we return to our regularly scheduled programming. But first, we wanted to share this epic blast from the past with you! You'll laugh (and maybe cry), as we explore the retro roots of Dueling Decades with you. With that said, we set the flux capacitor back a few years to the early days of the show! It's that time Marc James and Mancrush were astonished by the amazing list of movies that then co-host Jay Biglove had never seen (or even heard of)! The guys could not pass-up this hilarious opportunity to have Jay tell us and the listeners what he thinks the plots of these movies are. Jay bases his synopsis solely on the title, and then shocks us with what little he knew about them! Hear new versions of some of your favorite 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s VHS classics as they can only be told by Jay! I guarantee you're going to lose your mind.

Marc and Mancrush listen in as Jay Biglove breaks down "Breakin’", but not the version you have ever seen (or anyone else for that fact)! Find out who joined an underground fight club and what Jets' quarterback was a hall of fame speedster! Does Richard Branson have a death wish and should Macaulay Culkin lean on me or stand by me? For some reason, Jay thinks Se7en is secretly a movie about gambling addiction and that Lane Myer was on an impossible mission! Jay still does not know who the puppet master is (even though he was there when we interviewed Charles Band) and may never figure out who the substitute is....but he thinks Camron Diaz may have something to do with it. You will never believe who Jay thinks was in Orgazmo. We promise you will never see these movies in the same light.
